Foot Peel Mask - Review

Pedicures never really helped my feet... did this?

If you haven’t heard about this latest fad, it’s alright! Even I stumbled upon it quite recently and I just HAD to try it. I was so excited because if it worked, I would have a great product to review and I could get rid of my horribly hard, cracked heels. Yay!
So what did I use?
I tried the Dr. Foot Spa foot peeling mask. I had no idea what I was getting myself into and if this would actually help compared to the international brands I’ve been reading about.

How to use it?
It comes with a pair of plastic booties, which has a solution inside it. That’s the solution that helps with the peeling, you need to tear it open and put your feet inside it and tie up the open space with the tape they send along with the booties. It was not sufficient so I used normal tape to tie it up nice and tight.

How long should I wear it for?
It says one hour, but I wore it for two hours. After putting it on I wore socks so it’s easier to walk around. After removing it, you wash your feet with warm water.
So, what happened?
Once I removed the booties and washed my feet I was ready for my skin to start shedding like a snake but it did not. My feet just looked wrinkled up and drier than before. It actually looked super weird!
Does it work or not?
Okay, I knew that the peeling won’t start for a couple of days because that’s written in the instructions, so I thought maybe another two days or so, but nothing. I thought I did something wrong, I was getting super anxious and annoyed, I kept staring at my feet, but they continued to look like a shriveled raisin. Anyway, I forgot about it and on the 4th day right after a bath, I sat down to watch something when I saw a huge chunk of my skin dangling from my heels.. the shedding had begun and it continued all night. I had to wear socks to bed because of how much skin was falling off. Day 1 only my heels were peeling off.. I’m going to attach the pictures below.
(if you are easily disgusted please refrain from seeing them)
And, I‘m so sorry about the bad quality of pictures, I tried my best to capture the shedding in the middle of the night!

How long did the shedding happen for?
Till the end of day two the calluses on my heels were peeling off, at day 3 it went crazy, my entire sole had dry skin falling off from it. Right from my toes to the upper part of my heels. The shedding is still continuing but in small amounts near my toes. It says the shedding can continue for a week or two depending on how dry and damaged your feet are.

How does this work?
The solution in the booties is a very mild fruit acid, which penetrates through the layer of dead skins and helps it to peel off without causing any pain. The peeling continues until it reaches a fresh, pink, soft layer of skin on your soles.
My thoughts?
Okay, as you can very graphically see, it worked. But here’s what I loved about it, even post one week of my heel peeling it’s still soft and pink. Because it’s gotten rid of all the dry cracked heels, my soles don’t pick up as much dirt like before. I gave up on pedicures because of the effect being temporary, it literally used to take me a day or two post pedicure and me feet would be back to square one, dry, hard and dirty. So I really love the after effect of this peel and of course the peeling in itself is super satisfying for some reason. And no, it does not hurt AT ALL!
